We invite all interested parties, including representatives of central government, local authorities, civic society, private sector, as well as NGOs, media and academic circles to participate in the Polish celebrations of the World Habitat Day. They will take place in Warsaw on Wednesday 3rd October, 2007. Among the main guests of the event you will find the President of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz – Waltz and the Deputy Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, Ambassador Inga Björk-Klevby.

Within the framework of the Day celebrated around the world under the same theme: A safe city is a just city , UN-HABITAT Warsaw Office will organise a conference devoted to the security in urban areas.
It will take place on 3rd October, 2007 (Wednesday), in the “C” building of the Warsaw School of Economics at Aleje Niepodległości street. The entrance is free. Please fill-in a registration form (attached) and send it back to the UN-HABITAT Warsaw Office by 26th September, 2007 (Wednesday).
During the conference, the speakers will present:
”best practices” related to the security improvement measures in urban areas.
results of a pilot project conc. women’s security audit in selected areas of Warsaw, to be held prior to the conference in accordance with a methodology elaborated by METRAC and UN-HABITAT.
At the conference, the first prize in a poster competition for the occasion of World Habitat Day 2007 will be handed over.
