We are pleased to present 12 best panitings awarded in a competition organised by the Office together with Warszawa Srodmiescie District Hall on the occassion of 2008 World Habitat Day. The theme of the competition for primary school pupils was \"The nature in a city\". 427 children participated in it. Selection of winners was made in two categories: classes I-III (7-9 yrs. old) and classes IV-VI (10-12 yrs. old). In the former the winer was Ms Maria Stachurska from Primary School no 34, in the latter Ms Antonina Slubowska from Primary School no 12.

24 October, 2007 on the occasion of the UN Day, institutions representing the UN System in Poland, including UN-HABITAT Warsaw Office organised a conference entitled: ?Poland in the UN-UN in Poland?.

We are pleased to present 11 best posters sent for a competition for students on the occassion of World Habitat Day 2007. Posters relate to the prinicpal theme of the Day \"A safe city is a just city\". The winner was Mr Julian Wierzchowski from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. 10 other students were awarded diplomas.

On 3rd October, the Office together with its partners co-organised Polish celebrations of the World Habitat Day. The main event of the Day was a conference devoted to safety and security in the cities.

21-22 June 2007 in Bucharest (Romania), an extraordinary meeting of the UN-HABITAT Warsaw Office Advisory Council took place. At the meeting representatives of the countries from Eastern, Central and Southern Europe were present.

On 25-26 February, 2007 over 70 delegates from 18 countries, representatives of UN-HABITAT headed by the Executive Director Anna K. Tibaijuka and observers gathered in Warsaw at the first meeting of the UN-HABITAT Warsaw Office Advisory Council. Prior to the meeting, on 25th February, 2007, Minister of Construction of Poland hosted an official dinner for the delegates.
