The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) was set up in 1947 by ECOSOC. It is one of five regional commissions of the United Nations. Its major aim is to promote pan-European economic integration. Housing and land management is one of areas of UNECE expertise. In April 2009, Chief of the Office Krzysztof Mularczyk signed a Letter of Intent with the Deputy Director of the UNECE Environment, Housing and Land Management Division Christina von Schweinichen.


The RegioPortal's mission is to support the local and regional authorities in the formulation and implementation of the pro-development policies, together with gathering and mainstreaming the knowledge on local and regional development.


The Institute of Urban Development (IUD) located in Cracow, was established the in November 2002 following the decision of the Polish Minister of Infrastructure on joined resources of the Institute of Physical Planning and Municipal Economy - Cracow Branch (IGPiK O/Krakow) and the Housing Research Institute (IGM) in Warsaw.


Following institutions and companies are our partners in organising Polish celebrations of World Habitat Day, which will be held on 10th October, 2008 in Warsaw:


On 4 October 2007, visiting the Central Library of Geography and Environmental Protection at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization of the Polish Academy of Sciences, UN-HABITAT Deputy Executive Director Inga Bjrk-Klevby officially inaugurated a cooperation between the Library and UN-HABITAT Warsaw Office.


Following institutions and companies are our partners in organising Polish celebrations of World Habitat Day, which will be held on 3rd October, 2007 in Warsaw:


On 11 June 2007 by exchanging letters of intent UN-HABITAT Warsaw Office inaugurated its cooperation with the National Chamber of Town Planners in Poland.


National Secretariat for the Habitat Agenda has been established in 1999, according to the recommendations of the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (HABITAT II) in Istanbul in 1996.


National Centre for Human Settlements "Habitat Moldova Centre" has been established in December 2005 in the basis of the UNDP "Mesmerizing Moldova" Project and activates as UN-HABITAT and Agency for Regional Development partner in the Republic of Moldova.
